Worcestershire Launches UK’s First Fast Track Location Grant for Filmmakers

Worcestershire is ready for its close-up, offering up to £10,000 towards location costs and a decision in days, not months.

Worcestershire has everything a filmmaker could want: historic homes, gritty streets, wide open countryside and the kind of space crews dream about. Now it has something no other county in the UK can offer a fast-turnaround Location Grant, giving productions a grant towards their location costs.

Delivered by Worcestershire Film Office in partnership with Visit Worcestershire and fully funded by Worcestershire County Council, the grant is designed to make it easier and quicker for filmmakers to choose a county that’s long been overlooked but impossible to ignore once you’ve seen it.

Ridley Scott: “Choosing location is integral to the film: in essence, another character.”

What funding is available?

  • Up to £5,000 (covering up to 50% of the total cost) is available for productions using a single location in Worcestershire.
  • Up to £10,000 (covering up to 50% of the total cost) is available for productions using multiple locations within the county.

The funding is matched, meaning it works alongside your existing budget to stretch resources further and helping productions make the most of Worcestershire’s range of backdrops.

Why Worcestershire?

For too long, Worcestershire has flown under the radar. Now we’re ready to share it.

  • Fast access from London, Birmingham, and across the UK
  • Wide open spaces with stress-free unit parking
  • A variety of looks – from market towns to manor houses, factories to fields
  • A community that gets it – welcoming crews and supporting production at every level

Since its launch two years ago, Worcestershire Film Office has been making filming here easy: fast permits, free location research, fixer support, and a thriving marketplace of crew and suppliers. The new grant is the extra push to put Worcestershire firmly on the production map.

Kelly Mikulla, Managing Director of Worcestershire Film Office, added:

“This is about more than money. Worcestershire already works brilliantly for film and the grant is an added incentive. What makes it different is speed. Productions move fast and so do we. We want filmmakers to know they’ll be supported every step of the way, from first scout to final wrap.”
